Two children in the front. A foam-lined box that's safer than wood or metal. Made by hand in Amsterdam since 2010. The Urban Arrow Family is the original family cargo bike — the one every other cargo bike is trying to be.
The same impact-absorbing foam used in kids' bike helmets. Lighter, safer and quieter than wood or metal. Lasts in Irish rain.
Highest gross weight in the family-cargo category. Three children, two adults, the dog, the picnic, the buggy — in one trip.
Of refining one model rather than chasing trends. The Family was designed in 2010. They've changed it eight times and never replaced it.
The Urban Arrow Family is the bike that built the European family-cargo movement. Designed in Amsterdam in 2010, refined every year since, built by hand in the same workshop — it's the bike every other cargo bike was reverse-engineered from. If you've seen a family on a cargo bike doing the school run in Dublin, Cork or Galway, it was probably this one.
The wedge is the foam. The cargo box is made of EPP — expanded polypropylene — the same material as a child's bike helmet. It weighs less than a wooden box, absorbs impact better, lasts longer in wet weather, and doesn't rust. It's the engineering choice that lets the bike carry three children safely without weighing 60 kg. Every imitator uses wood. Urban Arrow uses foam. The difference is why they're still the standard.
Urban Arrow builds the Family with two Bosch motor options. The standard Performance Line is enough for flat Dublin runs. The CX upgrade is the one we recommend for Cork, Wicklow, or anywhere with hills.
Bosch Performance Line. 65 Nm torque. 545 Wh battery. Enviolo hub. The standard build for flat city riding.
Bosch Performance Line CX. 85 Nm torque. 725 Wh battery option. The one for hills, headwinds, and full loads. What we recommend in Cork, Wicklow, and most of Munster.
Optional: child seats, bench seat, rain canopy, Maxi-Cosi adapter, cargo lid. We spec the bike to your routes during the test ride.
Cycle to Work is a 12-month salary sacrifice — so it’s the repayment scheme. €3,000 of the bike comes off your gross salary over the year. At higher-rate tax, that’s about €120 from your take-home each month for the CtW portion. The balance is paid outright on collection.
Family Performance. Pay in full. Made in Amsterdam, EPP foam box, full warranty + lifetime GreenAer workshop.
From your take-home, over 12 months. Saves about €1,560 in tax on the cargo cap. CtW portion fully paid in a year — balance (~€2,995) paid outright on collection.
See your exact saving in the calculator →A second family car costs an Irish household €4,218 a year on AA Ireland numbers. An Urban Arrow Family costs about €50. Want to spread the balance instead of paying outright? Humm finance available — ask us. Final price depends on configuration.
A €6,000 cargo bike that arrives in a box and never gets fitted is not a €6,000 cargo bike. Four reasons our customers walk in instead of clicking checkout.
Direct-to-consumer cargo bikes arrive in a crate. Ours arrive after you've ridden one with your kids in the box, on the route you'd actually use.
Saddle, bars, brake reach, child seats. Five minutes by someone who's spent years on an Urban Arrow themselves.
Urban Arrow authorised. Bosch certified. Year one service included. Loaner cargo bike if yours needs longer.
Jack in Sandyford, Alan in Mullingar, Robbie in Cork. Sells you the bike, services it, picks up the phone three years later.
The two bikes our Urban Arrow customers most often consider before deciding.
Compact longtail. 1–2 kids on the back, fits a hallway, rides like a normal bike. The lighter answer to the same job.
Full front and rear suspension. 200 kg payload, Bosch CX, Magura brakes. The serious cargo step up.
We'll have an Urban Arrow Family sized, rain canopy on if it's wet, and the kids' seats fitted before you arrive. Bring the family. Ride a real route. 30 minutes is enough.
